The Research Of Chenghao's Political Thoughts

Chenghao is one of the founders of the Northern Song Dynasty's Neo-Confucianism,consequently,most study about Chenghao concentrate on his philosophical thoughts and thinking of Neo-Confucianism.This paper intends to reveal the side of Confucian scholar-bureaucrat of Chenghao,which base on the research about characteristic and core of his political thoughts,as well as comprehend the development of his political thoughts from the aspect of history.Carry on this research when put Chenghao's political thoughts and practices into a specific historical background,expect to find how Chenghao made contribution on the aspect of philosophical construction,cultural communication and political participation.This paper intends to research Chenghao's political thoughts roundly and deeply,clarify the development track about it,elaborates the connotation and characteristic about it,highlight the influence and status of his political thoughts especially around the period of Xining Political Reform,meanwhile,expand the vision outside his political thoughts,seeking the political ideal from Confucian scholar-bureaucrats in the Northern Song Dynasty.First and foremost,chapter one analyzes the historical background of Chenghao's political thoughts,the Qingli New Deal and the revitalization movements of Confucianism in almost the same period.Next,chapter two clarifies the political experiences in local authorities through Chenghao's life,especially pay attention to how his political thoughts and political practices influence each other.Concern the thought of policy of benevolence and morality indoctrination in his ideology,analyze the development and perfection of Chenghao's political thoughts.Then,chapter three proceeds with the intersection between Chenghao and Wang Anshi during the stage of Xining Reform,put their political propositions and operations into the specific historical background to research,seeking the reason that they happen to hold the same view at beginning but go their separate ways at last.What more,this chapter also hope can investigates the tendency of Confucianism and polity development in that period.Chapter four attempts to research the reason that made Chenghao and Wang Anshi basically stand opposite of each other from two way,one is due to the divergence in the interior of confucianists,the other is because of the conflict between the political ideal of Confucian scholar-bureaucrats and imperial power.Ultimately,this paper tries to discuss the concept about the orthodox tradition of the Way,the orthodox traditions of politics and the orthodox tradition of learning,which are three significant traditions from Confucianism,analyze Chenghao's thoughts under the govern of this concept.Summarize and conclude the effect and significance from Chenghao's political thoughts,in addition try to discuss the problems have realistic value,such as the dilemma of traditional confucianists and the modern development of Confucianism.
