The advance of China's reform and opening-up along with the rapid development of science and technology are welcoming frequent exchanges between countries,which requires a larger number of translators and interpreters in technical and scientific fields.Technical interpreting brings more difficulty due to the interpreters' lack of background knowledge and technical terminology.This thesis is a practice report on the author's interpreting work of the innovative practices of recycled organic waste carried out by Beijing Goldenway Biotech Company.The interpreting process went on well overall,but information missing was a big problem.To study information missing in consecutive interpreting,the dissertation mainly includes five chapters: the first chapter is a general introduction of the paper,including the research topic,research question and research method of information missing in consecutive interpreting;the second chapter does research on the theoretical background of pre-task preparation and information missing.To analyze the reasons as well as coming up with solutions to information missing,the theories applied are mainly Daniel Gile's effort model and sequential model;the third chapter introduces the interpreting task with the background of the task,requirements for the interpreter,the preparation of the task and the performance of the interpreter during the symposium;the fourth chapter digs out the reasons why the author misses information as well as giving possible solutions to avoid information missing;the last chapter is the conclusion of the research,demonstrating the major findings and the value of the research on information missing in consecutive interpreting.From the research,the author finds out that inadequate preparation,weakness in note-taking,problems in logic thinking and weakness in listening comprehension are major reasons for information missing,which needs to be solved in light of respective causes in later interpreting exercises and practices.
