This paper focuses on the history of the Australian immigrants in Australia since the1970 s,the reasons for the migration,the social characteristics of them and influence on Australia and the Philippine.Since the abolition of the White Australian policy in Australia in the 1970 s,a large number of Asians began to emigrate to Australians.The Philippines is one of the important one.From 1971 to 2015,the number of Filipino migrants in Australia rose from about 2550 to about 236,400.Philippine immigrants are the fifth in the country or region of Australia's overseas immigrants in 2015,with a total of about 1.0% of the Australian population.Studying Philippine immigrants in Australia is of great importance in understanding Australian immigration history and social characteristics.The introduction part of this paper introduces some domestic and foreign research situation which is closely related to this research field in recent ten years.Including the history of the Philippine state,the study of the Philippine immigrants in Australia,the research of domestic scholars for the Philippine labor export research;and some of the relevant immigration theories.The first chapter of this paper focuses on the history of Filipino immigrants in Australia.Including the history of the Philippines;the immigration of Filipinos' overseas traditions and the formation of immigrant cultures;and the history of Filipinos immigrating to Australia.Chapter 2 focuses on the reasons why Filipinos immigrated to Australia since the1970 s.Among them,the Philippine domestic factors include the historical factors of the Philippines,economic factors,national policy factors,the characteristics of the Philippine immigrants,and other factors;Factors from Australian aspect include higher than the Philippine income expectations,immigration policy based on immigration,Australia's work Gap,etc.In addition,economic globalization and regional grouping have also had a significant impact on Filipino immigrants to Australia.Chapter 3 is the social characteristics of the Australian Filipinos,which mainly analyzes the changes in the number of immigrants in the Philippines since the 1970s;the distribution of Philippine migrants in Australia;the age characteristics of the Philippine immigrants in Australia;the marriage of the Australian immigrants in Australia Status;and the situation of Philippine migrants working condition in Australia.Chapter 4 focuses on the impact of Philippine immigrants in Australia on home countries and Australia.The impact on the homeland includes: on the one hand,bringing considerable social and economic progress from foreign exchange earnings and knowledge transfer;but on the other hand,it has brought negative effects such as brain drain and negative social attitudes.The impact on Australia includes,on the one hand,filling labor vacancies and contributing to multicultural development,and on the other to the labor market,and posing a threat to law enforcement in Australia.The conclusion is that the Philippine immigrants have an important role on the two countries.The Philippine immigrants are as a result of the large number of Australian immigrants in the Philippines since the 1970 s.
