Australia is a nation of immigrants. After the Second World War to the mid-60s was an important Australian historical immigration period. Government needed to strengthen the defense, reconstruct nation and promote social development. The resolution of these issues was inseparable from the wealth of human resources. In view of the reality was that the natural increase of its own population can not meet the high demand for labor, Australia Government has developed a large-scale national immigration scheme. Due to the number of immigrants from the United Kingdom is a far cry from the goal of immigration, the Government had to adjust immigration policies which expanded the immigrant source from United Kingdom to the European continent. The Australian Government held varied attitudes in the process of migration of immigrants from different region. From Western and Northern Europe's immigration was welcomed in Australia, their life needs has been properly resolved. In contrast, migrants from Eastern and Southern Europe could only be regarded as immigrants reluctantly accepted, they were relatively survived by manual labor. However, the implementations of the national migration plan for the European continent in particular, not only to achieve the basic objectives of Australia's population growth, but also basically meet the needs of the post-war nation-building demand for labor. On immigration policy as a basic state policy, the formulation and implantation of immigration policies of European continent after post-war has not fundamentally threaten the"White Australia"policy, which was still the basic immigration policy of Australia. However, it is undeniable that the acceptance of immigrants from the European continent and a small number of countries outside Europe, has proved the traditional immigration policy has been changing. It can be seen that the quit of"White Australia"policy had a relationship with a subtle change of immigration policy in this period.
