In the context of ongoing globalization,international communications are intensified among peoples from different countries and nations,making it an unstoppable tendency in mutual infiltration of language popularization and cultural communication.With increasing comprehensive national strength of China,we're at the best time of the uncommon opportunity for international promotion of Chinese language;however,due to influential infiltration of western culture,Chinese culture is in the face of fierce challenge.In order to enhance soft power of Chinese culture,President Xi Jinping has called for building "cultural confidence",by communicating Chinese culture to the people all over the world,which requires us to keep improving strategy and method of communication.During the period of East and West Han dynasties,Buddhism had far-reaching influence to Chinese culture after being introduced to China,where become its adopted home since then,with major impact on local cultural custom.In this paper,history of sinicization of Buddhism and communication experience over the past 2000 years have been analyzed and explored,successful cases of cross-cultural communication in sinicization of Buddhism have been used for reference in overseas popularization of Chinese culture,in the hope of maximizing communication effect and international influence.By virtue of literature analysis,inductive method and case studies,and base on collection,summarization and documentation of historical data and research findings on communication strategy concerning sinicization of Buddhism,communication strategy applied to sinicization of Buddhism has been investigated in detail from the perspective of communication and cross-cultural communication.Furthermore,case studies have been conducted on communication of ancient Buddhism in China,and communication strategy of Buddhism in China has been combed and summarized;combined with the current status of international communication of Chinese culture,communication strategy in sinicization of Buddhism of inspiring value to modern popularization of Chinese culture has been studied,with an aim to contribute to great rejuvenation of China.In this paper,the strategies of Buddhism communication in China have been summarized from four aspects,that is,communication contents,communication subjects,communication audiences and communication path;through research and analysis of communication strategies,in view of international background and unsolved problems in connection with international communication of Chinese culture,the inspirations on international communication and foreign teaching of Chinese culture have been extracted,together with specific proposal on action plan.By learning from the case of successful strategies on communication of ancient Buddhism in China,it helps us improve methodology and strategy of cultural communication,in the manner of making the best of strong points and "taking history as a mirror".
