On The E-C Translation Of Political News From The Perspective Of Adaptation Theory

With the increasingly intense cooperation between China and US,Chinese people have more interest in the American political news.This thesis is based on the author's practice in the translation of American political news into Chinese in 2015 in The Economist.Within the framework of Adaptation Theory,this thesis suggests that a translator should take translation purposes,certain contexts,translation strategies and skills into consideration and make continuous and appropriate linguistic choices and adaptations.As a result,dynamic adaptations can be achieved in target texts and it is more likely that these translations can be accepted by target readers.In the E-C translation of political news in The Economist,domestication is applied to adapt on context and target readers,and translation skills including addition,annotation and conversion are adopted to achieve lexical,syntactic and textual adaptation so that the target texts can accurately express all the information of the source texts,fulfill the requirement of target readers.
