| The pieces of news used for the translation project are chosen from the materials translated during the author's internship at Netease News Platform.All of the news is authentic and instant,adopted from big web portals in America such as ESPN(Entertainment Sports Programming Network).After the project was finished,the author reflected her translation experience,and discussed the translation difficulties and the corresponding strategies in terms of "translation of terminology","headline adaptation" and "news adaption".The results show that according to the special literary form and readers of NBA news,the main difficulties in the NBA news translation process are the translation of terminology,the headlines adaptation as well as text adaptation.And the author's consideration mainly emphasizes on how to correctly express the important content of the original text,how to make the expression simple and readable,and how to emphasize the major focus of the news.When translating terminology,the author must not only take full advantage of internet tools,but also combine understandings with the words,and sometimes the ability of correlation is needed;when adapting headlines,the author should cover the important content of news and try to seize the attention of readers immediately in order to increase pageviews;when translating and adapting news,some redundant and needless words or paragraphs should be shortened or deleted,and some interesting and necessary information should be added to the original content.In a word,when translating news,we should not only transform the original language into another,but also focus on the reading experience of readers.The author accumulated some experience in translation through this project,especially in the area of NBA news translation,which lay a foundation for the future work in news translation.In addition,we also hope the report can provide some useful advice for both editors and translators in China in the field of NBA news. |
