An Investigation And Research On The "Nine-Lions-Worship-Element" Music Of Hakka Folk In Gannan

Nine Lions Worship Elephant is a large Gannnan Hakka folk ceremony,which is produced at Yinqian town,Shangyou county,Jiangxi province.A detailed introduction about the cultural ecological environment of Nine Lions Worship Elephant’s generation has been made in this study,which covers geographical and cultural space,as well as ethnic migration history.A conclusion generated from the research on the producing process of the folk custom shows that Nine Lions Worship Elephant is a mixture of local culture,and a kind of creation of folk customs.The developing process of the folk custom has been sorted out in this study,which successively includes primary stage,semi-primary stage,and regeneration stage.A detailed description about Nine Lions Worship Elephant’s component,manufacturing process,and performance process has been done in this study.The sound construction of Nine Lions Worship Elephant has been analyzed,which covers a detailed record about its band,musical instrument composition,and Yingqian town’s Suona genres,teacher-student relationship,and inheritance way.The author of the study reaches a cultural anthropology interpretation on the metaphor,the symbolic meaning,and the function of Nine Lions Worship Elephant.The author through study methods such as document analysis,fieldwork,and compare,joint studies of diachronic and synchronic are carried on to the folk custom.In the course of the investigation,the author of the study pays attention to the collection and sorting of local bibliography,such as local chronicles,genealogy,cultural and historical data.Meanwhile,the author regards the interview data of insiders as important reference.The author standing at the point of the vision,thinking,and method of ethnomusicology,the author carries on a comprehensive and systematic investigation and analysis on Nine Lions Worship Elephant to discuss the inner relationship between folk customs and their related behaviors,to reveal the relationship among music,folk customs and the behavior of folk customs,as well as to interpret the social and cultural function of folk customs.Through using the theory of cultural anthropology,the author of the study reveals many functions of Nine Lions Worship Elephant,such as its surviving strategies about order space,its cultural symbols of clan competition,and its important means of ethnic identity.At the end of the paper,the author mentions that,facing the impact of urbanization,industrialization and globalization,Nine Lions Worship Elephant which is based on agricultural civilization has been challenged.The traditional folk custom ceremony has lost its original ecological environment,and has to face how to inherit and develop.Besides,the author discusses the functional evolution of the regeneration of folk custom under the background of intangible cultural heritage in the paper.
