Wei Bei style is the art of works developing from Li Calligraphy in wei jin,Southern and Northern Dynasties periods to Kai Calligraphy in the Tang Dynasty.In the early 4thcentury,the Country disintegrated and the national center moved to the South,as well as all the nobles moved to the south.The new wind of alligraphy was transferred to the area south of the Yangtze River from Luoyang,and then the style of Wang Xizhi and Wang xianzhi was formed and became main stream.The northern part of the country entered into Sixteen Nations Era in which there were many fighting minorities.In the year 439,the Northern Wei Dynasty unified the north and different minority calligraghers affected each other.In the year 494,Emperor Xiaowen moved the capital to Luoyang,and carried out Chinesization policy and promoted Wei Bei style development and formed the heyday of calligraphy in Northern,showing the prosperity of calligraphy in both the north and south.This paper collected 1249 stones of the Northern Dynasty inscriptions,and through the study of inscriptions analysis and based on previous achievements and new discoveries,the author classified the style features of Wei Bei style again.This paper is divided into 4 parts:Part 1 is introduction.It mainly introduces the reasons of choosing this topic,the definition of related terms,reviews on Wei Bei style research history and Wei Bei style research status and research methods as well as its significance.Part 2 is to explore formation causes of Wei Bei.It explores the historical and cultural causes of Wei Bei style and the effect of the Northern Dynasty's social politics,cultural fashion,the introduction of Buddhist culture and the wind of the grave.Part 3 is the rediscovery of Wei Bei artistic style.The rise of down-to-earth learning in Qing Dynasty led to the stone of textual criticism and scholar bureaucrats collectedrubbings that became a common practice at that time.When the scholar bureaucrats researched and repeatedly appreciated rubbings,they accidentally discovered the unusual beauty of Wei Bei style.Part 4 is the calligraphy art characteristics of Wei Bei style.This part uses the poetry classification evaluation method for reference.On the basis of previous research,as well as learning from Mr Jin Xuezhi's New Twenty-four,the author divided Wei Bei calligraphy art style into 16 categories: exquisite,puerility,upright and foursquare,wild,ethereal,magificent and powerful,austere,strange,deportment,steep,tight,quite powerful,Chun,thin hard,chic,and elegant.
