An Analysis Of Shostakovich's "Second Piano Sonata"

Dmitri Dmitrievich Shostakovich is an outstanding pianist and composer in the former Soviet union.His creative genre is very extensive,such as symphony,opera,dance,chorus,musical instruments for various concertos,chamber music,piano and String Quartet,Piano Sonatas,film music,drama,music etc..It is very difficult to classify the style of Shostakovich's works in twentieth Century,for his music language has not only the characteristics of traditional tonality,but also the use of dissonant sound and non tonal techniques.This paper intend to explore the composer superb writing techniques,based on Shostakovich's "Second Piano Sonata" as the research object,starting from the perspective of creative techniques,respectively on the sonata form structure,theme,tonality,harmony and texture analysis.This paper is composed of three parts: introduction,text and conclusion,and the text is divided into three chapters.The content of this paper is as follows: the introduction introduces the reason,significance and research status of the topic.The first chapter is a brief introduction to the composer's life,the stage of creation and the characteristics of music.The second chapter introduces the creation background and content of the "Second Piano Sonata".The third chapter is the main part of this paper,namely the analysis of the creative techniques of "Second Piano Sonata".The first is the musical analysis,to understand the work structure;second is the analysis of the theme of unity,which is of great significance in this work;third is the tonality analysis,because his works for tonal presentation and tonality layout has its unique style,although Shostakovich is tonal music composer;the fourth is the analysis of the harmony.His harmony also has the important techniques in twentieth Century as a composer,which contents the characteristics of the times,complicated chord structure,the use of non three degree superimposed chord,and harmonic progression;the fifth is the analysis of texture,which contents homophony,polyphony,synthesize,according to Mr.Wu Zuqiang's music performance means in the analysis of musical.
