Research About The Forgotten Of Li Tiefu

When the oil painting came to China first,The Chinese people saw a whole new different kind of painting on their homeland at the first time.But,oil painting is just a foreign stuff,Whatever the inception or the expression,Chineses art is very different from the Western art.However,the preacher taught the oil painting skill are so simple,they would rather go aboard to learn the “pure”western painting.So,in the late of19 th century,there are lots of Chinese artist go aboard from Guangzhou or Shanghai,they are eager to learn every piece of western art.Including Li Tiefu.As the first Chinese who arrived at foreign land,his historical position is no doubt,he went to Canada,England,America in the late of 19 thcentury,and his teacher are William Chase and John Sargent,Because of this unusual relationship,Li ’ s painting is more“purer” than any other Chinese artist.But,he was forgotten by the society in the time he got back to China.Why?this is a very good question,how did this incident happened?This thesis is not just let people know him,but to analysis more details that ignored yet,and solve this problem.This thesis is not speaking highly of him either,but from analyzing Li’s life and his work,we can know who he really is,and how he is.From now on,there are less files about Li,and those are much lack of truth.If we do not integrate and clear these up,maybe Li Tiefu is still like a “obelisk” who located in Chinese modern art history,just still in that place.From analyzing the forgotten of Li Tiefu,we can see this “western painting leader in China” who is different from the art history books.He may not like those western masters in history book,and his artworks may not astonishing like many masters did either.But,as the first Chinese artist who went aboard,he should not be forgotten.and the way he learn should be remember.And we also should know why he was forgotten,and what leads him to forgotten,and what can we learn from this?...
