A Semiotic Interpretation Of Visual Presentation Of Spring Festival Culture In Documentaries

The Spring Festival ——the most important year-old festival in China——is the treasure of national culture which has a strong humanistic color.As a unique type of film and television,the documentary bears the responsibility of cultural exchange,output and revitalization of the Spring Festival.Therefore,this article takes the Spring Festival culture visualization in the domestic TV documentaries as the research foothold,takes the text analysis method as the trail,discusses how the documentaries use the symbol to carry on the content code,the meaning construction,and the coder's intention behind its symbolic system.First of all,the author carries out a diachronic research of the Spring Festival theme TV documentaries in 1958-2016,then generalizes the characteristics of its three stages of development.Secondly,the paper analyzes the symbols of the Spring Festival in the 13 documentaries,and presents the process of the Spring Festival culture as the symbol to spread and express the meaning.Through the semiotic understanding of the documentaries,the author find that the official television media utilize the Spring Festival theme documentaries to weave myth,passing the Chinese "harmony between the heaven and human" natural-views,"benevolence" as the core of philosophy and "harmony and prosperity" of the nation concept,to achieve the recognition of audience for the Chinese traditional culture,and the family consciousness.At the same time,the documentary team also portrayed the "nostalgia" emotion in the real life,calling attention and inheritance to the traditional culture represented by the Spring Festival culture.Moreover,through the comparative analysis of CCTV documentary?Chinese New Year?and BBC documentary?the Chinese New Year: the world's largest event?,we can grasp the the differences of Spring Festival culture in the Chinese and foreign documentaries in the lens symbols,language symbols,symbols,custom symbols,architectural symbols,in order to truly understand the self through the other side of the Spring Festival.
