Wang Yangming(1472-1529)is a famous philosopher in Ming Dynasty.“To conscience” is the main idea of his mind system.Wang Yangming's thought of conscience is gradually formed through his continuous exploration of the theory and indomitable practice. It is in the continuous theoretical thinking and the work of tempering that Wang Yangming's theory of consciencehas a solid theoretical basis and rich ideological content in his own eyes. The thought of conscience not only marks his mature thought, but alsohas a greater impact on the society at present and to come.Yangming set a goal of being a saint to his life and took actions when he was young. He has already been getting started the “three changes” and enlightened a lot of truth before the enlightenment at Longchang. After the enlightenment at Longchang,Wang Yangming set up his own theory of “mind is reason” and soon after put forward the thinking of “unity of knowledge and practice”.Yangming has gone through a process of developing the thought of "conscience" to "the two characters",Later Yangming recalled the process “enlightenment at dragon field” of his own and said,“I can't enlighten my two words: conscience after the enlightenment at Longchang”.Conscience is the ontology of Yangming mind while to conscience is its Gongfu of the heart. To conscience not only contains the basic meaning of the ontology of conscience but also the moral orientation of the whole doctrine. It has the effect of combining ontology and Gongfu. The four-sentence teaching was the teaching method that Wang Yangming used when he was old.The “four-sentence teaching” is the ideological and political education that is all about the relationship among “standard”,“knowledge”,“sincerity” and the relationship between “good”,“evil”,“yes” and “no”.In fact,here,“four-sentence teaching” was built at the ideological stand of “to conscience”.What's more,it is the specific provisions and explanations of the meaning of the “conscience” ontology. It is also the reflection and sublimation of the core idea “to conscience” of his lifetime.
