A Study Of Wang Yangming's Conscience Theory

Wang Yangming's theory of conscience is the thought he put forward in his later years,which also indicates the gradual maturity of Yangming's psychology.Since he was young,Yang Ming had the ambition to become a saint,so he spent all his life looking for the way to become a saint.He first tried to find the mind by watching bamboo in front of the pavilion for 7 days,flooding himself in the poems and chapters,and being in and out of Buddhism and Taoism,until he realized the idea of "self-sufficiency of human nature,no falsehood of seeking outside" and "mind is reason" in Longchang.Later,he put forward the idea of "nothing outside the heart" "being unreasonable out of the mind" "integration of knowing and doing" and "to conscience".This series of thoughts proposed can be regarded as the development process of Yangming's psychology,which can also be said that this series of explorations is all about finding the word "conscience".It can be seen that the word "conscience" plays a very important role in Yangming's theory of psychology,and the word "to conscience" is also known as the Holy Law Eye Collection of the Holy Gate."To conscience" is the unity of the ontology and the workmanship,"conscience" is the ontology of the mind,which has the characteristics of absoluteness,empiricism,perceptuality and practicality."To" means the work of the mind,with the meaning of "the most extreme" and "implementation".A series of specific efforts,such as "sitting for converge",“chastening through the difficulties" and "reflecting on oneself" etc.,are all aimed at truly achieving "conscience" and thus achieving the realm of saints.Yang Ming believes that the realm of the madman is closest to the realm of the saint,but after all,the madman is not a saint.He must "go from madness to saint".Only when owning the realm of egolessness and the realm of being in harmony with things,the person truly reaches the realm of the saint,and Yangming thinks that conscience was born of every human being.Therefore,as long as the conscience is continuously developed,everyone has the possibility to be saint.Yangming's mind makes the saints no longer sanctified,but more common and secular.
