In Modern Chinese,"kan shangqu(???)"and"kan qilai(???)"are two words which have been evolving from notional words to functional words,and from phrases to words.In this thesis,we focus on the words of"kan shangqu"and"kan qilai".Their semantics,syntax,and pragmatics are analyzed and discussed by the means of the combination of Diachronic and Synchronic study.The thesis is consists of five parts.The first part is an introduction of researching background.In this part,the significance,the study subject,main content and the innovation of the research are introduced.Then this thesis describes the current research status on lexicalization,grammaticalization,subjectivity and subjectivisation.And specifically,the current research status of"shangqu(??)""qilai(??)""kan shangqu"and"kan qilai"is analyzed subsequently.The second part presents the evolution process of "kan shangqu" and "kan qilai" respectively from the diachronic perspective.For "kan shangqu",this thesis first reviews the diachronic semantic features of "kan(?)".Next,the lexicalization and grammaticalization of "shangqu" are investigated,and the understanding of Semantic Features of "shangqu" from Cognitive Schema is elaborated.At last,the lexicalization and grammaticalization of "kan shangqu" are emphatically described and analyzed,and the combination of "kan shangqu" from the cognitive perspective is explained.And for "kan qilai",the thesis also first reviews the lexicalization and grammaticalization of "qilai".Further,the lexicalization and grammaticalization of "kan qilai" are emphatically analyzed.Finally,the thesis compares "kan shangqu" with "kan qilai" in Ancient Chinese.In the third part,a classification of the words in Modern Chinese is conducted from the synchronic perspective.Firstly,this part distinguishes the phrases and the idioms,and then describes the idioms separately from aspects of the modality and syntactic function.At last,it analyzes and calculates the results of semantic classification,grammatical classification and special classification statistics.In the fourth part,the quantitative and qualitative analysis of the words is performed from the synchronic and diachronic perspective.Firstly,this part summarizes the similarities and differences of the words at synchronic level,and then compares the differences between "kan shangqu" and "kan qilai" in Ancient Chinese and Modern Chinese.Finally,it focuses on the special meaning and pragmatic functions of the words,and presents the subjective hierarchy of the words as well as the subjectivization of grammaticalized words.The fifth part is the conclusion,which summarizes the main points of the article and points out the shortcomings of this paper.
