"Image" And "Meaning"—Study On Chinese Characters Graphic Design And Expression

Based on the theory of image enlightenment of Chinese characters' graphics,the paper discusses and analyzes the “image” and “meaning” of Chinese characters graphics,for the purpose of making a deep interpretation on Chinese characters graphics and their connotation,and on this basis,providing a design thought for modern creative expression methods of Chinese characters graphics for reference.As the Chinese characters contain the external structure of “image” and internal connotation of “meaning”,the cultural gene is able to be preserved during the process of Chinese characters graphic design.First of all,the five design principles,“describing meaning with images”,“splicing and reorganizing”,“dimension extending”,“classified grouping” and “combination of the virtual and the real” are used to illustrate the Chinese characters' graphics and provide important methods for the graphic design of Chinese characters.Secondly,the “image”and “meaning” in the Chinese character graphic are systematically studied and expressed to explain the oriental thinking characteristics and context in “images”and “meaning”and describe the application and reflection of imagery thinking in the graphic design of Chinese characters.Expand the imagery thinking and carry out innovative exploration of cultural extension,compositional structure and graphic creativity in Chinese character graphic design.Thirdly,restructuring and expression of the graphical pattern of Chinese characters are mainly discussed from two aspects: the image composition of “character image” in Chinese characters and the associated recognition and reconstruction of it so as to obtain new inspirations in design from image composition and imagery thinking,thus promoting the high-level development of the graphic design of Chinese characters.Chinese characters graphic design is to make ideology and concept symbolized,give full play to the advantage of the visual language of graphics in information transmission and apply it into Chinese characters.In this process,the “image” and “meaning” are closely connected,making Chinese characters graphics get double functions of graphic language and word language,and hence not limited by territory and cultural background.Thus,the charm of Chinese characters graphics is able to be displayed to the greatest extent.
