Translation Practice Report On Financial Analysis Report From The Perspective Of Translation Shifts Theory

The economic globalization has strengthened economic ties among countries across the world and brought those countries to the international arena.As a result,a growing number of foreign-invested enterprises increase their investment in China while Chinese investors go abroad as well.Having a comprehensive understanding of partners' financial status serves as an important foundation for further exchanges and cooperation.Thus,there is an increasing demand in the informative text on finance and accounting translation and it is essential to ensure the faithfulness and accuracy of the translation version to convey information between partners.This report is based on the translation practice of the “Financial Analysis Report of the Security Equipment and Services Company”.It includes four chapters: The first chapter introduces the background and the characteristics of the task,as well as the significance of research on this task;the second chapter describes the process of preparation,translation and revision;the third part gives brief introduction to the Catford's translation theory of shifts and analyzes the examples taken from the text from the perspective of level shifts and category shifts.The experience and lessons gained from this practice are concluded in the fourth chapters.In this report,the author analyzes and summarizes the methods used in translating the informative text on finance and accounting from the perspective of the Catford's translation theory of shifts,with the hope to give some advice for future translators on this type of text.
