Targeting the grade 2013 junior college students for five years of preschool education major in Harbin Preschool Teachers College,this paper gives empirical researches on practical teaching applying to English classroom teaching of higher vocational college.It aims at introducing practical teaching method into the traditional English classroom teaching.This research shows that the practical teaching method is appropriate for the promotion of the four English basic skills,listening,speaking,reading and writing.Firstly,it makes many students get over their psychological obstacles,so that they are daring to communicate in English.Besides,this method let students master a lot of everyday English in kindergarten,which reflects the professional application function of oral training.Secondly,students' listening skill gets improvement through the listening practice teaching.Thirdly,their English reading and writing skills are also enhanced by it,which reflects on the analogy test for the Practical English Test.Finally,through data analysis,the paper comes to the conclusion that the teaching effect of practical teaching method is obviously superior than the customary way in English teaching.In the early research,with the literature method and questionnaire survey method,on the basis of reading a large number of literature and research on related teaching theories,the research direction of this paper was identified combined with the investigation on society employment needs for Harbin preschool education majors and the English teaching situation as well as needs in the school.Over the midterm of the research,with the experimental method,this research developed the listening,speaking,reading and writing teaching through the practical teaching method in the experimental class.This experiment selected another parallel class as the contrast one,which continued to follow the traditional teaching form.The research got the conclusion on the basis of the experiment.In the late study,with the case study method and data analysis method,on the basis of the experimental result,this research used the SPSS statistical software to analyze the test results of the two classes.The object of this research is to strengthen the advantages of the practical teaching and optimize its disadvantage,torealize the theorization and systematization of it,and then a reasonable and practical training teaching strategy can be created.Some conclusions have been made by the experiment: the teaching effect of practical teaching method is superior to the traditional one in terms of the English classroom teaching of Harbin preschool education major.This teaching method promotes students' awareness of self-cooperation and creation.The driving effect of practical teaching to the theoretical study is obvious,and it is helpful for the formation of English training strategies.In addition,these strategies can promote the English teaching activities and improve students' vocational quality and technical application ability.What's more,it can give some inspiration to the researches of practical teaching method on higher vocational English majors.
