Teaching Chinese characters is a critical and indispensable part of teaching Chinese as a foreign language.Chinese characters as a record of Han Chinese language writing symbols,is also the carrier of Chinese culture.Therefore,the teaching of Chinese characters is not only the focus of teaching,but also difficult teaching.On the basis of summing up the research achievements of Chinese characters teaching,this paper uses the methods of questionnaire survey,Chinese character knowledge test,classroom observation and data comparison from two aspects: the teaching situation of Chinese characters and the learning situation of Chinese characters of foreign students.According to the statistics and analysis of the survey,this paper points out the advantages and disadvantages of the teaching of Chinese characters in Harbin Normal University,and puts forward some suggestions for improvement.The paper is divided into four parts:The first part is the introduction.It describes the purpose and significance of the paper,research ideas and methods and related literature review.The part of the review includes three aspects: the study of teaching methods of teaching Chinese as a foreign language,the research on teaching materials of Chinese characters and the research on teaching foreign students Chinese characters.The second part is the investigation of the situation of Chinese characters teaching in Harbin Normal University.Firstly,it introduces the general situation of Chinese characters teaching in Harbin Normal University,and afterwards elaborates the purpose and significance of investigation,the contents and methods of investigation,and finally introduces the process of questionnaire design and implementation.The third part is the results and analysis of the teaching situation of Chinese characters in Harbin Normal University.Mainly this includes the following: 1)The Chinese characters teaching method.A detailed investigation have been done from the three teaching parts: teachers,teaching methods and teaching materials,including teachers on the teaching of Chinese characters and teachers on their own teaching evaluation,as well as teachers teaching methods and teaching skills.Finally,the teacher's satisfaction with the teaching materials was investigated,and the results were analyzed.2)Statistics and Analysis of Overseas Chinese Students' Learning Survey.The survey includes the cognition of Chinese characters learning,the strategies of Chinese characters learning,the feedback in Chinese characters learning,and the statistical analysis and analysis of Chinese characters knowledge ability in questionnaires.Finally,the paper summarizes the students,in particular the mistakes that often occur in the learning process.The fourth part is the analysis and improvement suggestions on the teaching ofChinese characters for foreign students of Harbin Normal University.According to the analysis of the teaching situation of Chinese characters,this paper expounds the advantages of Chinese characters teaching in Harbin Normal University,points out the existing problems and puts forward corresponding suggestions.At the end of the paper,the main contents are summarized and the shortcomings of this paper are pointed out.
