Japanese army occupied northeastern China after the September 18 th Incident.After the fall of Harbin,the epidemic prevention department of army medical school secretly moved to Harbin,Unit Shiro led by Ishii Shiro started the research and production of biological weapons.Unit 731 carried out human experiments and biological warfare in large scale,and gradually formed a top-down,organized and prepared biological warfare system,under the Japanese Emperor,Army Staff Headquarters,Ministry of War of Japan,Group Army(Expeditionary Army,Front Army),Division,the Units of Bacteria,Universities,and Medical Profession's support and cooperation.Biological Warfare System in Unit 731 was mainly composed of three parts: institution system,research systemand theory system in Unit 731 of biological warfare.Specifically,institution system in Unit 731 mainly consists of Unit 731 and the Detachments of bacteria as the main body,based on eight departments such as the Biological Research Department of Unit 731,Biological Experiment Department,Epidemic Prevention and Water Purification Department,Bacteria Production Department,General Affairs Department,Education and Training Department,Equipment Supply Department,to form the fully equipped and functional experiment,research,storage and transportation systems for biological weapons,which is the central planning,organization and implementation of biological warfare.The research system of Unit 731 refers to the research institutions with Unit 731 as the core,bacterial warfare agents of attack type,defense type and biological weapon research as the main content,unifying bacterial warfare agents,bacterialserum and vaccine,forming the experiment,study and production chain of bacteria.Finally,a set of systematic biological warfare theory are formed under such core members of Unit 731 as Ishii Shiro,Enryo Hojo and Tomosada Nasuda.Biological warfare theory covers the basic content,conditions and methods of biological warfare,including the attack target and methods of biological warfare,bacterial warfare agent selection and bacterial strategy implementation.In short,the institutions with Unit 731 as the core were actively carrying out research and production of bacterial agents and bacteria bombs,which constituted the basic pattern of Unit 731 biological warfare system,under the guidance of the biological warfare theory of Unit 731 from 1932 to 1945.Biological Warfare System established by Unit 731 took the bacteria experiments as an important basis,completely departing from medical standards,in violation of humanitarian spirit and medical ethics.Unit 731 implemented large-scale biological warfare in Inner Mongolia,Jiangsu,Zhejiang,Hunan and other areas in China,which not only caused casualties,but also causeda huge psychological trauma of the victims.
