At present,there are many research materials on cross-cultural adaptation of foreign students,but most of the domestic studies have focused on students from developed countries,or students from countries having close relation with our country,while those foreign students whose country does not have close relation with our country or is not economically developed received relatively little attention,particularly,the research results on the cross-cultural adaptation of the Indian students are rare.In order to remedy the above problem,the author decided to study the cross-cultural adaptation of the foreign students from India.In this paper,I took advantages of the teaching Chinese as foreign language in the School of International Education of Guangxi Medical University,explored the cross-cultural adaptation of the Indian students in Guangxi Medical University,analyzed the factors influencing the cross-cultural adaptation in the form of a combination of questionnaires and interviews,and tried to make appropriate suggestions.This article mainly includes the following three parts:The first was the introduction,mainly elaborated the reason,the purpose and significance of the topic,the research methods adopted in this paper,gave the overall overview of cross-cultural adaptation research,and introduced the status quo of cross-cultural research from the relevant concepts,theoretical models,domestic and international cross-cultural adaptation research.The second part was the main part of the article,where the current status of the cross-cultural adaptation of Indian students in Guangxi Medical University was investigated and the factors that had affected their cross-cultural adaptation were analyzed.It was found that,1,the Indian students in Guangxi Medical University were in good condition in terms of social and cultural adaptation,but were not satisfied with their social support,school support and teacher support;2,concerning with the academic adaptation,Indian students in China are more satisfied with classroom teaching as a whole;3,in terms of psychological adaptation,the average depression index of all respondents belonged to a slight depression category.Through the further correlation analysis,it was found that 1,the longer the Indian students had been in China,the higher the comprehensive score of social and cultural adaptation became;2,there existed a logarithmic relationship between the time duration in China and the academic adaptability,which the academic adaptability experienced the rapid changes in the first two years in China,while tended to become slow;3,as far as the gender differences and psychological adaptation were concerned,the overall psychological status of girls was more negative than that of boys.The social support factors,cultural factors,language factors,religious factors,motivation factors of study,cognitive factors,personal personality factors and so on had an important influence on the cross-cultural adaptation of Indian students in China.Finally,the operable and feasible advices had been given from the aspects of school side,the Indian students,the Chinese local students,the local social,which were expected to help Indian students to better adapt to the academic study in China,and provided some ideas for the university's education and management work.
