The Supplement On The Three Questions Of The Formation Of The Inner Chapters Of Chuang-Tzu

Abstract:The completion of Chuang-Tzu has always been an important issue in academic circles,and the formatiom of the inner chapters have been paid close attention and discussed.However,due to the lack of historical documents,this question is difficult to answer from the right side.On the one hand,it increases the difficulty of the study,on the other hand,it provides the conditions for the study from different angles.As for the age of the inner chapters' title,the thesis from the aspects of words,points out that compound words "emperor" and "human" are the words after the late Warring States period and further confirms the conclusion that the inner chapters' title is from the late Warring States period and even after by the formation of style of the theory and the change and development of the title style of ancient books in pre Qin Dynasty.In regard to its author,based on the narrow range of ages,the thesis further indexes the people who may study or arrange Chuang-Tzu,analyzes their usage of the vocabulary of the inner chapters,title and take the the spread situation of Chuang-Tzu version into consideration,to point out that the author is more likely to be Huainan Wang Liuan.As for the author of the inner chapters,this thesis attempts to analyze the purpose of ancient articles,style,distribution of Chuang-tzu' s ideology in Chuang-Tzu and image features,distribution features of the image of the inner chapters shown in the other chapters and its personal usage of the image of the inner chapters,in order to prove its author is Chuang-tzu.As for the age of the inner chapters,through the analysis of Chuang-Tzu on the logical features of thoughts of "life and death","useful and useless" in its origin and part of fables' supplement in terms of contents,taking Han Feizi for an example to replenish the judgment by predecessors that the criticism of righteousness is from the late Waning States period and further indicating that in terMs of words,"prime minister" and other 26 words from the outer and miscellaneous Chapters are all words from the late Warring States period,however,inner chapters always use monosyllabic words while expressing the meaning of these words,this thesis proves that the age of the inner chapters are formed before the late Warring States period and earlier than miscellaneous chapters.
