A Study On English-Chinese Translation Of Business Terminology From The Perspective Of Schema Theory

In today's world,the relationship between countries and areas are becoming closer and closer,and the communication and cooperation of business are getting more and more frequent due to the rapid development of international trade and economic globalization.Therefore,business translation is of great importance for both countries and individuals.Although remarkable achievements has been made by domestic scholars,the E-C translation of business terminology has such problems as mistranslation.The author finds that Schema Theory can offer the theoretical support for the E-C translation of business terminology.On the theoretical basis of Schema Theory,this paper analyzes the general features of terminology and summarizes the main problems of E-C translation of business terminology,and finally proposes main principles and translation strategies and methods of E-C translation of business terminology.This paper finds that,as special jargon,business terminology has multiple attributes and characteristics,but English and Chinese business terminology show great difference in way of word formation in terms of abbreviation and loan words;the Schema Theory determines that the translator should give enough importance to language schema,context schema,style schema and culture schema during the process of E-C translation of business terminology,and the translation should follow three principles of accuracy,professionalism and uniformity;in order to achieve communicative purpose of business terminology,literal translation,free translation,zero translation and transliteration,explanatory literal translation,and combination of transliteration can be adopted in the E-C translation of business terminology.As a cognitive and acquisitive process,E-C translation of business terminology shall be in the guidance of Schema Theory and choose appropriate translation methods according to the characteristic of business terminology.This paper is theoretically and practically valuable for the E-C translation of business terminology.
