A Report On The English-chinese Translation Of Eurocham Myanmar Trade & Investment Policy Recommendation White Book 2017

This translation material is an excerpt from Eurocham Myanmar Trade &Investment Policy Recommendation White Book 2017,an official document issued by the European Chamber of Commerce.The thesis consists of five chapters.Chapter one introduces the background of the project,the current research status of the white book,the significance of making researches on these translation texts and the structure of this thesis.Chapter two analyzes the type,content and characteristics of the white book.Chapter three introduces the whole translation procedure.On the basis of analysis of the content and linguistic features of the original text,chapter four systematically analyzes difficulties encountered during the translation process and proposes corresponding translation strategies and techniques illustrated with some examples.The translation strategies of transliteration,literal translation,zero translation are used in translating terms.The translation skills of amplification,omission,conversion are used in translation of common words.The translation strategies of converting between passive voice and active voice and adjusting the sequence of sentences are used in translation of the long sentences.Finally,the summary and reflections are demonstrated in chapter five.It is hoped that this thesis could deepen readers' understanding of the language of the white book and provides a reference for translating the white book from English to Chinese.
