The Art Of Light And Shadow In The Display Design

Light opens a window that makes human learn the world and it is an important medium of information dissemination.From the ancient time that Suiren invented drilling wood to make fire to today that city is brightly lit,human has never stopped to pursue the light.Light and shadow design is an important part of the display design.This article takes the shape and source of light and shadow as the entry point to analyze the design techniques used in light and shadow art in natural and artificial light environments.The forms of point,line,and surface of the light sources,combined with the arrangement and combination,make a sufficient effect of expression in the visual and create space beauty.Meanwhile,the artistic atmosphere created by the light and shadow can also inspire people's different emotions.The combination of light and shadow and multimedia information technology forms participatory and interactive displays as well as immersive displays which can stimulate people's multiple senses.Then,I applied my research and analysis to the works which is designed and created by myself--Museum of Gaixia ruined site.At last,the article summarizes that light and shadow art in the display space is an interdisciplinary and comprehensive design.It combines lighting design,architectural lighting design,and related knowledge of psychology and electronic equipment.Meanwhile,designers should always remember the ultimate goal of all design activities that display the space is to serve people and they should balance the relationship among the exhibits,lights,and people.
