Study On Loneliness Experience Writing In Literature From The Perspective Of Modernity (1900-1945)

Between the beginning of 20 th century and the Second World War,loneliness occupied an important position in the pen of a few great world writers.And loneliness became an important field in literature and theme of Literary and artistic expression.The loneliness of this period in literature has unique significance different from modern times.In the perspective of Modernity,this paper analyzed the cause of loneliness in the first half of twentieth century through society,economics and culture.This paper called this “strong loneliness”.It is a type of positive loneliness.The characteristics of the times,the permeation in literature and form of expression were analyzed.Furthermore,the aesthetic value and positive meaning to current spirit world of human beings were explored.In domestic research status,the domestic research results were classified.The degree of research of loneliness problem in the first half of twentieth century was studied and the feasibility of research was analyzed.In the part of research status in foreign countries,the evolution in western philosophical system and relative research results of loneliness were untangled.This supplied theoretical basis for the explanation of “strong loneliness”.The research to ?strong loneliness? is based on the perspective of modernity.First of all,the modernity and loneliness were defined.The modernity focuses on concern of human beings.It is one introspection spirit.It reflects the social order,real situation and spirits? weakness of human.The definition of loneliness mainly starts with psychology,philosophy and literature.The loneliness is a consciousness which is produced in the base of independent thinking that is against worldly life and human alienation.Secondly,the production cause of loneliness in the first half of twentieth century in China and the west was analyzed through economic system,political system and social environment.Forwards,the loneliness in the first half of twentieth century is a “strong loneliness” which has uniqueness.The characteristics of the times and the permeation in literature for ?strong loneliness? were explained.Strong loneliness has the feature of proactivity.It is one consciousness which is ahead of the times.The “strong loneliness” has reflexivity.It is that the awakening of consciousness which leads to the reflection for the society order and human being?s living situation.The “strong loneliness” has rebelliousness.It revolts the society in the process of reflection problem throughout the strength of thinking and action.Based on this,the permeation in literature for the characteristics of the times of strong loneliness was discussed.The reason that the writers discuss loneliness experience in literature is that the free will of human beings could not be realized.In order to do this,the writers express their own desire and pursuit through the writing of loneliness experience.The pursuit of preserving true self was realized through the way to draw a clear line with the real world.The mentality of criticism and awakening was shown through the writing for national destiny.The last is fight with the attitude of resistance and salvation.The third chapter explained the expression form and connotation in literature for “strong loneliness”.This is mainly analyzed through some classical writers? works which describe loneliness in the first half of 20 th century.The three expression forms of loneliness are: external weakness and introversion,the solitude of the loss of root and Spontaneous action.Kafka shows a sort of loneliness which seems weak but steely in his works.It used “in but not belong to” to draw a clear line with outside.It realizes the freedom of heart throughout loneliness.Joyce starts with looking for the true nature of the nation.He looked for the root of the nation in loneliness through critical reality.Camus and Lu Xun critiqued the reality with the contending posture and realize the freedom of human beings.The last discussed the aesthetic value of “strong loneliness” and meaning in literature.First of all,loneliness is sincere to self and other people without deception.It is interlinked with the truth in esthetics.Loneliness contains selfless love to all life.It is that the concern to other people and conflict with the contradiction of the world which makes the heart full of love feel lonely.Secondly,loneliness has the aesthetic redemption function.Loneliness creates the aesthetic state of mind which is advantageous to closing art.And it makes the art saving the real life become reality.At last,the realistic meaning of strong loneliness was discussed.The mental plight of people in the first half of the 20 th century still exists in current time.the research to 'strong loneliness' which contains high and enterprising spirit in the first half of the 20 th century may find a possible road for the spiritual world of modern people.
