On Localized Translation As Part Of MTI Program

The booming of the industry for localization has been speeding up the development of language service as well as localized translation,which has increased the demand of relevant professionals as well as the requirement for translation practitioners.In order to meet the demand of the market,universities have adopted localized translation into MTI program and added CAT courses into their curriculum.Localized training,however,was started late in China.And training system of localized translation hasn't been fully developed.The thesis is aimed at coming up with suggestions for domestic MTI programs in terms of localized translation through comparing the localized training situations home and abroad.The thesis resorts to questionnaires and statistical analysis in an effort to draw experience from foreign universities and work out suggestions for domestic universities to cultivate talents of localized translation in MTI programs:firstly,to integrate the basic knowledge of localized training and the use of translation aided tools into training system;secondly,to break away from the framework of "CAT Course ONLY",diversify the curriculum,and categorize courses into "required" and "optional" ones,and have localization-related courses cover undergraduate,post-graduate and doctoral periods;thirdly,to collaborate with enterprises of localization;fourthly,to invite teachers from competitive majors in universities to give lectures to MTI students in order to pave way for interdisciplinary collaboration.
