A Practice Report On English Translation Of The Brief Introduction To Dongning Fortress

At present,the red tourism is an emerging industry and the prospect is bright.More and more foreign tourists and scholars are eager to appreciate the Chinese red tourism resources.In order to meet the hope of foreign tourists and scholars,the translator translates the Asia's largest military fortress--the brief introduction of Dongning Fortress.The translator hopes that a large number of foreign tourists and scholars can understand the outstanding contributions made by Chinese for the anti-fascist war.The translator writes the practice report on the basis of the English translation of the brief introduction of Dongning Fortress.The translator uses the Skopos Theory to guide the translation practice.The translation should not only convey information accurately,which conforms to fidelity rule under the Skopos Theory,but also accord with the expression of target language,which conforms to coherence rule under the Skopos Theory.Besides,the translation should stimulate the travel enthusiasm of foreign tourists and scholars,which conforms to skopos rule under the Skopos Theory.The translator takes examples of the vocabulary translation,the sentence translation and the discourse translation to show the methods used in translation practice.In the vocabulary translation,the translator uses the transliteration,the literal translation,amplification,omission and so on;in the sentence translation,the translator analyzes the Non-subject sentences,the long sentences and so on;in the discourse translation,the translator uses cohesion and coherence to analyze the original text.However,the red tourism translation is still facing a big problem.For example,the low quality of translation has seriously affected foreigners' interpretation of Chinese history and not many translators engage in red tourism translation.The translator translates the brief introduction of Dongning Fortress into English,which aims to fill the blank of the red tourism translation to some extent and makes the contribution to propaganda the Chinese red tourism to the international world as possible as I can.
