Children literature has an important influence on world acknowledgment,sentiment receptiveness and values formation.Provided that there is Chinese colour in foreign readers' memories of childhoods,they will accept Chinese culture to a larger extent at their older ages.It is of prominent significance to improve the quality of English translation of Chinese children literature in order to disseminate Chinese culture and establish Chinese image.This paper is a Chinese-English(C-E)translation report of which the source text(the ST)is extracted from Death's End in The Three-body Trilogy written by Liu Cixin.The English version is translated by Ken Liu,a Chinese-American famous scientific fiction writer and translator.It has been launched globally in September,2016,and it has been the only English version so far.The extracted material in this report is translated by the author of the report(abbreviated as "the author" in the following analysis)and the author's version has been revised for several times.And a contrast analysis between the author's version and Ken Liu's version is also done by the author.This ensures substantial and typical translation examples for the report,enabling it to be of originality,practicability and operability.Under the guidance of Liu Zhongde's translation principle "Faithfulness,Expressiveness and Closeness to the original tex" and against the background of Strategy of Chinese Culture's Going Global,the report discusses two topics:1)How to retain expressions with Chinese characteristics;2)How to creatively adapt the ST.Meanwhile,in light of the five criteria of children literature,that is,i"Conciseness,Child's Taste Preference,Education,Vividness and Musicality",in face of English translation of Chinese children literature targeting at the selected material,the author summarizes available skills:1)ensuring Conciseness through common words and simple sentences;2)retaining Child's Taste Preference by demonstration of children language on surface expression level;3)realizing the goal of Education through introducing Chinese culture by preserving Chinese culture-loaded information;4)restoring Vividness through preserving original literary images;5)and maintaining Musicality by imitating onomatopoeia and creating alliteration.Although the author tries her best to make the translation realizing requirements guided by chosen theory and criterion,she fails to make it concise as it could be.And "local expression"presented by Ken Liu is the exact improvement the author currently should acquire through more readings and further study.This report demonstrates that when handling English translation of Chinese children literature,translators should initially analyze language features and writing style of the original texts.Then they should adopt feasible translation skills and methods acutely like methods above-mentioned in accordance with matching translation theory.They should deliver their translations in consideration of their target readers,ensuring that Chinese culture is able to be transferred and the target text(the TT)will be understood and accepted by the readers.
