Translation Practice Report On Project Bidding Documents From The Perspective Of Systemic Functional Linguistics

This translation practice report is based on the C-E translation practice of the Installation Project of 10 KV Substation in the Plant Customized by the Completion and Delivery Center of Airbus A330 Wide-body Aircraft in Tianjin(hereinafter referred to as Project)which is done during the author's master period.Under the theoretical framework of system functional linguistics,this report takes metafunction theory as the main perspective,combines register theory and takes the field,tenor and mode features of Project into account to analyze the translation cases in order to find a proper translation,show the original context and seek the equivalence between the source language and the target language in terms of ideational metafunction,interpersonal metafunction and textual metafuncion.Through this translation practice,the author accumulates some relevant knowledge in the engineering field,knows the language features in the registers of the scientific style and the legal style,and realizes the necessity of checking and reviewing the translation repeatedly.Besides,through the application of systemic functional linguistics to the translation practice,the author understands the importance of analyzing the specific register sufficiently and translating the text in accordance with the field,tenor and mode.This translation practice report consists of four chapters.Chapter One introduces the translation task.Chapter Two introduces the whole translation process,including the preparation,translation and proofreading stages.Chapter Three introduces theoretical knowledge about system functional linguistics and analyzes some cases from the perspective of metafunction theory.Chapter four is the summary of this translation practice,including the findings as well as some problems for reflection.
