The Study On FUZAO Of The Middle Reaches Of The Yellow River

Fuzao is the combination of Fu and zao.Judging from its appearance,fuzao should be the outcome of a long-term evolution of Fu and Zao.Mainly discovered in the middle of reach of Yellow River(including the central Shaanxi plain,the border of Shaanxi,Shanxi and Henan,as well as the southern Shanxi),Fuzao emerged in the second period of Miaodigou.And in southwestern Shanxi,it can trace back to the early and middle age of Longshan culture.Although it seems that fuzao is a simple combination of fu and zao,its function,actually,has great differences from fu and zao.This paper,focusing on summarizing the prehistory fuzao of the middle reaches of the Yellow River and starting from the its shape,mainly aim at classifying with its various characteristics.The classification of fuzao,which actually act as a 'lable',is for observing its structure.However,it cannot replace the objective reality.Besides,the classification of the fuzao is the basis of the further study.After the classification was completed,it shows that there was a logical sequence of the structure of the fuzao under certain classification.The formation relationship is used to verify or judge the direction of logical sequence to make it a fact sequence.The study of object typology can help us to grasp the characteristics of the changes of artifacts,and to understand the reasons behind the change features is the purpose of further study.This paper tries to explain the reasons for the evolution of the structure of the cauldron.The transformation of morphological structure to function is undoubtedly necessary to use a lot of trace and unearthed evidence to make bold assumptions and be careful to demonstrate.First of all,the fuzao is widely regarded as a cookware.Thus,we suppose that it is a kind of cookware and explains the evolution pattern of its structure.The study shows that it is unreasonable to regard fuzao as a cooking utensil.If the it is not only used to cook,what is its function?From the process of rise and fall in the fuzao,we managed to observe that what vessels has been replaced by fuzao and what vessels has replaced it.The fuzao and its closely related artifacts must be functionally relevant.The morphological structure of their structures was analyzed and the functions of the utensils associated with the cauldron were discussed based on the location of these artifacts.On the basis of the above studies,the function of the prehistoric cauldron was deduced on the basis of morphological structure.
