Miaodigou 2nd period culture is an archaeology culture between Yangshao and Longshan phase , including some main potteries ,such as jia, ding, fuzao, jar with sand, bottle with little opening and flat bottom. Basket veins, rope veins and addition veins are main veins, gray pottery with sand and soil is main quality.By investigating, there are lots of sites about Miaodigou 2nd period culture in Shanxi, which distribute in Linfen, Yuncheng and Jinzhong. More than ten sites were excavated. In tens of years, archaeologiest has know and study Miaodigou 2nd period culture along with well-provied means excavated. More out-of-date traditional idea and unreasonable periodization resluts are needed to be rectified. So, it is necessary to check and study Miaodigou 2nd period culture again, restoring history probaly.Firstly, this article goes back the history of the discover and research in brief about Miaodigou 2nd period culture in Shanxi. We divide Dongguan as a typical site into seven stages of three periods according to relationships layer and ruins and developing rule about typical pottery, which is as a standard about Miaodigou 2nd period culture in Shanxi. Comparing other sites in Shanxi by the standard, it is the same stages if they have the sama feature as typical pottery of the standard. As a result, different mutual relations are establised.According to the differentment of traditional culture and enviroment, Miaodigou 2nd period culture in Shanxi can be devide into three districts, which are middle, south and southwestern inShanxi. These districts not only display the same and but also show the difference. Southwestern inShanxi is the core among them.We still explore origin and age about Miaodigou 2nd period culture in Shanxi .It develops from Xiwangcun 3nd period culture and become different Longshan culture types,which undergos six hunderd years around from 2900BC to 2300BC. There are the same stages Miaodigou 2nd period culture in Shanxi as the regeions, which are Jin,Shan and Yu. At the same time, many potteries show identity because of culture exchange among them,which is Dawenkou culture, Qujialing -Shijiahe culture , and Miaodigou 2nd period culture. All these prove that stage result about Miaodigou 2nd period culture in Shanxi is reasonable.In a word, we know Miaodigou 2nd period culture remains in Shanxi deeply by research on stages and distinctions and relative problem, which perfects the culture chart of neolithic era in Shanxi and provides the standard to great reasearch ,such as civilization origin, etc.
