Comparative Study Of Chinese And Thai Idioms

As all know,idiom is the most essential part of the language culture,and also the precipitation of human history,culture,thoughts and feeling.The Chinese and Thai idioms as an essence of language,a microcosm of history,a precipitation of civilization,a concentration of wisdom,shining the light of the working people of the two countries.Chinese idiom is a treasure of Chinese culture,and also the crystallization of the wisdom of the people of Thailand.At present,China and Thailand political economic and trade exchanges have become increasingly frequent,language and cultural exchanges are also increasing,thus more and more language learners and enthusiasts interested in Chinese idioms.As a student from Thailand,in the past Chinese learning years deeply feel that although Thailand and China belong to Asian countries,but because of the difference of natural environment,customs,humanistic education and cultural heritage,the expression of language has its own distinct characteristics,the differences in idioms is the differences in culture.So by exploring the idioms of one language can make a better understanding of the language culture of this country.Therefore,takes the Chinese and Thai animal,plant,food idioms as the research object,this paper make a comprehensive comparative analysis of the differences in Chinese and Thai animal,plant,food idioms,and then explore the unique ethnic characteristics from the four aspects.And to provide some theoretical guidance for Chinese learners by explore the cultural connotation.This paper focuses on the Chinese and Thai idioms in animal,plant,food idioms comparative study,in contrast,the semantic relationship of two language idioms were compared,the comparison has two main aspects: on one hand is the comparative analysis on similarities and differences of the actual meaning and the literal meaning of the idioms,on the other hand is compared analysis on the relationship between metaphor and metaphorical meanings of idioms.At the same time,we also compare the cultural connotation of idioms of the two languages,and make multi angle analysis and analyze the cultural connotation such as geographical physiognomy,production and life style,religious belief,marriage life reflected in the idiom of animal,plant,food idioms.And expect to provide valuable reference for the study of language,culture and custom.
