Chinese imperative mood is a significant part of Chinese mood system.The means of expression of imperative sentences are various.Therefore,we need to analyze and conclude the main means of expression of Chinese imperative first before we teach them to the native English speakers.We need to teach foreigners about the positive expression and negative expression of Chinese imperative sentences and analyze the ways of emphasize or weaken imperative mood.We need to explain the related culture and its interpersonal function in class。Conclude the similarities and differences between Chinese imperative and English imperative through the contrast,and choose the appropriate teachingmethod according to the learning features of native English speakers,and that will be helpful for teaching Chinese to foreigners.This thesis will analyze the characteristic of Chinese imperative sentences and English imperative sentences through the comparison.This paper will study the characteristics of Chinese and English imperative sentences through contrastive analysis.The first chapter compares Chinese and English imperatives,different definitions and classifications,the second chapter compares Chinese and English negative imperative sentence affirmative imperative sentence expression,English expression,expression of strengthening and weakening the tone for Chinese and English imperatives were summed up.The third chapter respectively analyzes the interpersonal function of Chinese imperative sentences with the imperative sentences in English,through learning a random survey of several Chinese learners to give relevant suggestions for teaching Chinese as a foreign language.
