The imperative sentence, with its unique form and rich expression effects, is a kind of important Chinese syntactic system. Long-term study with synchronic viewpoint and in other aspects,but the diachronic and comprehensive study of imperative sentence are obviously inadequate.Starting from the diachronic point of view, and with the review of form characteristics of various imperative sentences as a breakthrough point, this paper focuses on the general situation of them in different historical period. While summing up the form evolvement features in different period, we also try to reveal the evolvement features in the aspects of semantic characteristics and pragmatic functions .During the study process, this paper places great emphasis on the organic integration of syntactic form, semantic characteristics and pragmatic functions. On the basis of description, analysis and comparison, the paper concludes that, in the entire history of the development process of imperatives, there are not only evolution of syntactic form, but also the update of semantic model and transition of pragmatic functions as well.
