As physical training guides often involve a few technical terms, and require clear delivery of information and expressive language, providing good translation for them can be a big challenge for translators.A well translated physical training guide should be as informative and expressive as its source text,so that the reader can get the right information they need to perform their training routines in an effective way,and become more involved in participating in the training programs. To ensure the effectiveness in the translation of training guides, certain strategies will be necessary. This thesis discusses how to retain the desired effect of physical guides in their translations through empirical cases selected from an English-Chinese translation project of PRECOR's training guides.By comparing the first and final drafts of translations, this thesis points out that when information delivery goes wrong or the text lacks readability, the translation will not be effective enough to communicate its ideas properly. To solve these problems, this thesis then proposes translation strategies such as using professional terms, imagining training scenes, selecting the right words, and reading through the text after translation, hoping to enlighten future translators.
