The Hip Hop came into being in the United States in the 1960 s,and it was a rebellion against the discrimination and oppression imposed by the white people in America in terms of politics,economy,culture.Thus the Hip Hop was characteristic of strong resistance.In the process of the industrialization,U.S.government has realized the Hip Hop could be used as the cultural output tool.Besides,The Hip Hop was also incorporated into the commercial products.Therefore,The Hip Hop has shown its characteristic of consumption.At the same time,under the influence of the cultural industry,the political claims that the Hip Hop has made have transited gradually to a kind of artistic form.The Hip Hop in China has experienced four phases that included being got familiar,withdrawing,reentering and then gradually becoming popular.Chinese Hip Hop culture shows the characteristic of the weak resistance and the strong consumption.This is not only due to the special social changes in China,but also closely related to the vigorous development of China’s cultural industry in recent years.There has been a number of Chinese style Hip Hop songs and other art forms since the Hip Hop entered in China.In the meanwhile,the combination between the Hip Hop culture and the Chinese mainstream culture has produced a special Hip Hop culture which is in line with the characteristics of Chinese culture.In this dissertation,I intends to explore the factors of social change that led to the development and the uniqueness of the Chinese Hip Hop through analyzing the special course that Hip Hop culture has evolved in China.Besides,I will also represent the reasons that the Hip Hop culture shows characteristics of both the weak resistance and the strong consumer.This paper consists of four parts.The first part mainly reveal the two features of the Hip Hop in terms of both the resistance and the consumption that produced by the government combined with the commercial force from the origin of the Hip Hop.The second part articulates in detail the social background when the Hip Hop has evolved in China from the two perspective that are the changes of the cultural policies and the reform of the private life domain in China.The third part focused on the emergence of "China style" Hip Hop which was produced by the conflict and the combination from the mainstream culture in China and the Hip Hop.The fourth part discusses theimpact of the Hip Hop on the youth in China. |
