Mathematical Olympiad has always been a very controversial topic.At present,many researches are carried out from such several aspects as relevant theories,students' physical and mental development,social phenomena.The contents are mainly focused on the pros and cons of the development of students,the total denial or the attitude of blind worship,the "one size fits all" or the different ways of dealing with it.However,there is little empirical research on effect of Mathematical Olympiad on the implementation.Based on the experience of the first line of education,this paper takes the influence of Mathematical Olympiad on children's divergent thinking and convergent thinking as the breakthrough point,and studies their influence and related utility.In this study,the teaching methods and contents of Mathematical Olympiad in the classroom teaching were introduced.The divergent convergent thinking of 46 students in grade six of Honghe primary school in Longquanyi district was investigated by scale and interview for one year in order to explore the effect of Mathematical Olympiad learning and training on students' divergent thinking polymerization.The results showed that there was a significant difference in the results of divergent convergent thinking between the two tests,and the scores of the special Olympic mathematical test were improved significantly.The results of Mathematical Olympiad were significantly correlated with divergent convergent thinking of grade six students.After interviews with students and teachers,it further demonstrates the effect of Mathematical Olympiad on divergent convergent thinking of students.The experimental results show that grade six students in primary school develop divergent divergent thinking through the learning and training of Mathematical Olympiad,and promote the formation of creative thinking.
