As the process of globalization has been accelerated by the fact that connections between countries are becoming much more closer and people's exchanges in economy, culture and other fields are coming to a track of a deeper communication than ever.Meanwhile, interpreting work has become increasingly prominent in all fields. We may find that interpreters' work seems like a bridge, hanging between different language users. And the interpreters have helped a lot in the process of globalization, and are becoming more and more indispensable. In this simulative practice of consecutive interpreting,Michelle Obama's speech "It's better to travel ten thousand miles than to read ten thousand books" at Peking University was selected as the object. As we all know that Michelle Obama is an excellent speaker, this speech focuses on the theme of education and culture, and discusses the significance of overseas studying abroad to young students. The speech has a great research value for the reason that the speech encouraged the young generation a lot,and enhanced cultural communication between China and America as well. This thesis explores translation strategies from different aspects and different levels by the examples selected from the speech, and as all the discussions were under the guidance of Skopos theory with the help of examples, the readers can also realize how does the Skopos theory works in this simulative practice. At the same time,it explores the application of translation method such as Literal translation and Free translation in this actual interpreting. However, interpreting skills are so complex that completing a very high quality interpretation task would be very difficult.Only single language ability is always not enough, especially for the public speaking interpretation. The interpreting work also needs the interpreting skills and public speaking strategies. Therefore, this thesis also discusses the skills and strategies of speech as well as the significance of using them in interpretation.
