The Effect Of Encoding On Aftereffects Of Prospective Memory

The successful execution of prospective memory task provides a guarantee for normal life,and the continued activation of prospective memory intentions after the completion of prospective memory tasks will affect the efficiency of life.The study aimed to explore what effect encoding had on aftereffects of prospective memory? The existing researches mainly focused on visual encoding of prospective memory.How did the auditory encoding effect on aftereffects of prospective memory? whether did the specific encoding aggravate aftereffects of prospective memory? Implementation intentions encoding strategy could effectively improve the performance of prospective memory,but it's still unknown that whether there were different effects under different sensory channel conditions.Could implementation intentions increase the likelihood of aftereffects of prospective memory compared to standard encoding? How to reduce the impact of aftereffects of prospective memory through encoding strategy training?Therefore,Experiment 1 first explored the effect of encoding specificity on aftereffects of prospective memory different sensory channels encoding conditions;Experiment 2 increased the implementation intentions encoding to test whether it would increase the risk of aftereffects of prospective memory,and whether different encoding channels and encoding specificity would produce different effects;Experiment 3,based on Experiment 1 and Experiment 2,further investigated whether reverse implementation intentions encoding and warning encoding can attenuate the aftereffects of prospective memory.Through these three experiments,the following conclusions were drawn:(1)Both visual encoding and auditory encoding conditions can produce aftereffects of prospective memory.The specificity of encoding affected the aftereffects of prospective memory on auditory encoding.The response of original prospective memory targets on non-specific encoding was significantly slower than those of the specific encoding condition;(2)the effect of implementation intentions encoding on aftereffects of prospective memory was similar to the standard encoding,and commission errors of the specific encoding condition was significantly more than the specific encoding condition;(3)Reverse implementation intentions encoding and warning were two effective encoding measuresto reduce the aftereffects of prospective memory.
