Shi Shilun(1659-1722),born in Jinjiang,Fujian Province,was the second son of general Shi Lang.Current research mainly focuses on the literary image of the novel,The Cases of Lord Shi,and the Chinese operas while the study of Shi Shilun himself and his poems has not yet attracted the full attention of academics.Therefore,this paper,based on the study of Shi Shilun and his collection of poems,Nan Tang Poems,examines Shi Shilun' s life,works,social contact and the origin influence of family background on Shi Shilun' s personality and poetry creation Nan Tang Poems,with 1405 poems,is characterized by long span of time,various types of carries and extensive contents.Combining Shi Shilun' s life experiences,this paper elaborates the content of Shi' s poems from the aspect of his personality,ideas and sentiments.Shi Shilun has the reputation of the most honest and upright official in the world.From his poems,we can see his noble personality and the idea of honesty and benevolence.We can also feel his lonely,sad feelings and longing for the seclusion.This paper takes Shi Shilun,a poet in the poetry circle during the reign of Kangxi Emperor,as a case in order to study the influence of social background and changing times on his poetry creation and try to objectively evaluate the artistic achievements of his poems and historical and cultural values.
