An Analysis Of Eagleton's Literary Text Theory

Eagleton,as the epitome of the study of "text theory" of Western Marxism,In his three masterpieces,<Criticism and Ideology:A Study in Marxit Literay Theory>,<Marxism and Literary Criticism>and<Literary Theory:An Introduction>,we can clearly find his basic explanation of the concept of "text".Eagleton thought that since the birth of literature,it is closely related to ideology.Therefore,on the basis of criticizing formalism,he creatively combines "text" with "ideology",and puts forward that "text" is the theory of production of aesthetic ideology.On the text aesthetic production theory,Eagleton focuses on the analysis of the "text production"multi-structure,and analyzes the "text production" of the six major factors-general production mode,literary production mode,The general ideology,the author's ideology,the aesthetic ideology and the text,which influence each other and restrict each other,form an organic dynamic process.The characteristics of the production process is always "ideology" as the center,Eagleton creatively regards abstract"ideology" as the object of text aesthetic ideology production,product,even "text"interpretation process can also be called "ideology" reproduction.Eagleton's theory is not only a continuation and deepening of Marx's theory of production,but also a direct reflection of "text" as a historical reality and a "reappearance" view.However,we found that after 80s,there was a great change of the ideas of Eagleton,he began to realize that his "scientific" text theory,which was established on the basis of Althusser's Marxist theory system before 80s,deviated from the revolutionary critical spirit of Marxist theory.Therefore,under the background that the study of Marxist culture and politics is paid more and more attention to,he puts forward the critical theory of "rhetoric",which is compared with the theory of textual criticism of"science".The criticism of rhetoric shifts the attention from the structure of "science"to the social effect,and emphasizes the social and historical content hidden behind rhetoric.From the text theory proposed as " science " to the literary criticism theory as "rhetoric ",he has fully absorbed the theory of Marxism and structuralist literary theory since the twentieth century.He criticized the literary essence view of formalist,cracked down the literature of vulgar Marxism,and passed the " Ren Du two pulse " between literature " internal research " and:external research ",so that"text theory " finally came to the course of cultural rhetoric.Therefore,our study of his"text theory" can not only deepen our understanding of Marxist literary theory,but also be inspired by Eagleton's courage and action to challenge and break the authoritative thought.Thus we can solve the problem of literature and art theory to help us.However,when we see Eagleton's "text theory" contribution,we can not ignore its theoretical defects.First,although Eagleton has repeatedly declared his Marxist position,he absorbed and applied it uncritically to Althusser's "scientific" Marxist theory.Therefore,the defects of Althusser's theory in structuralism make Eagleton deviate from Marxist tradition to some extent.Secondly,although Eagleton opposes formalism's "essentialism",he inevitably falls into the quagmire of "essentialism"when expounding relevant theories.Third,Eagleton put forward rhetorical criticism and emphasized the effect of criticism.However,he did not answer the puzzle of why theory struggles and how to fight.These problems should be initiated and noticed.This paper is divided into five parts.The introduction introduces Eagleton's life,academic process,research purpose and significance,and makes a brief analysis of the research status at home and abroad.The first chapter mainly introduces the research field of Eagleton's text theory.Eagleton's text theory mainly includes three aspects:firstly,he criticizes formalism;Secondly,Criticizing the study of "vulgarization" Marxism.Finally,the author puts forward his own theoretical characteristics of "cultural rhetoric" research field,"cultural rhetoric" perspective,that is,from the text language,structure and other formal factors.This paper explores the unique ways in which the text conveys cultural connotations and social values.The second chapter focuses on Eagleton's production view of aesthetic ideology of text.Eagleton's view of production of aesthetic ideology of text can be discussed from three aspects,the first one.This paper mainly introduces the six core factors that affect the production of literary aesthetic ideology.From the angle of production mode,including general production mode and literary production mode,from the angle of"ideology",including general ideology,author's ideology and aesthetic ideology,"text" is the product of the comprehensive action of the above factors.The second aspect,analyzes the text aesthetic ideology production mechanism,that is,the concrete analysis of the above six elements of the comprehensive role;The third aspect,mainly generalizes the text esthetic ideology production characteristic and the significance.Therefore,we can grasp Eagleton's view of text production in general.The third chapter of the text of Eagleton's criticism.Before 80s,Eagleton
