Rhetorical Characteristics Of Names In Russian Literary Works

Names in literary works are the first step for readers to understand the corresponding characters in the works.Through the names of people.readers tend to form their own preliminary judgment on the character.Therefore,the characters'names play an extremely important role in literary works and naming characters is the first thing that writers need to do.The characters' names in literary works also serve the purpose of writers' writing,since names of characters may reflect the writers'intentions.Hence,naming the characters becomes one of the means for writers to shape characters.Novel characters' naming in literary works will bring unique charm to the work.Once the readers realize the beauty,can not help but will be overwhelmed with admiration for.Golgi once said,"Literature is hominology".Literature is the reflection of real life.The characters' names in literature need to conform to the trend of the times.The reality of society restricts the naming of characters.At the same time,the names appearing in literary works will also enrich the naming system.The names of people in literary works undertake the mission of transmitting a lot of information.Therefore,writers will use various language rhetorical devices to make a meaningful name according to the content of the works,the style of the works and so on.As time goes on,such names will be spread in society and even in the whole world.Some of them became part of the precedent names.This dissertation analyzes the characteristics of the characters' names in Russian literary works from the perspective of rhetoric,and summarizes the rhetorical features and the rhetorical effects of names in Russian literary works.After reading the paper,we hope that readers will have a new understanding of the name in literary works,and realize that there is a great connotation in the small symbols,which opens up a new reading cognitive perspective for readers.This paper is composed of four parts:introduction,main body(3 chapters),conclusion and reference.The introduction part mainly summarizes the achievements of the studies on this topic,and introduces the object,purpose,main task,innovation and practical significance of research.The first chapter explains the concept of the name,analyzes the Russian naming system,and expounds the relationship between the names in Russian literary works and the names in the real world.Russian names in real life are closely related to the names of characters in literary works.But at the same time,they are different from each other:the meanings of persons' names in reality are not very closely related to people themselves,but the names of characters in literature are often closely related to all aspects of the characters.The second chapter of the thesis classifies the rhetorical features of the names of people in Russian literature from three different aspects:phonetic rhetoric,vocabulary rhetoric and rhetoric.In phonetic rhetoric,phonetic symbolics,rhythms,sweet-sounding or dissonance,onomatopoeia,homophone harmony,etc,are reflected in the names of characters.In vocabulary rhetoric,on the one hand,there are commendatory and derogatory points that constitute the names of people in literary works;on the other hand,different affixes can be added to Russian names.In this way,from the representation of names in the works,readers can get the attitude of the writer or speaker to the person being called in advance.Some names also reflect the characteristics of metaphor,metonymy and antithesis in the rhetoric.The third chapter aims to summarize the rhetorical effects of names in Russian literary works.The names in Russian literary works play an important role both inside and outside the works.In the works,the names mainly play the role of transmitting relevant information of characters or works.Jumping out of the scope of a specific work,outside the works,names become the main source of precedent names,and sometimes possess the function of deconstruction.The conclusion part summarizes the content of the full text.Actually,in the present study,the analysis of naming in Russian literature works is still rough,which leaves room for future studies.
