This is an English-Chinese translation project on "The Kingdom of The Fathers"selected from the third chapter of Of Woman Born:Motherhood as Experience and Institution by Adrienne Cecile Rich,a famous contemporary female writer in the US."The Kingdom of The Fathers" discusses the role of social history in the construction of Maternal mechanism and examines the patriarchal system from the perspective of a poet,a feminist, and a mother. With the world-wide concern over human rights and development of women's liberation movement in recent years, feminism has made great progress in China and has become an ideology that affects the economic and political systems. For women who pursue political power in China, they have made unremitting efforts for a better life and a more rational social order. The translation and research of feminist articles will have a contribution to the development of Chinese women's movement, which is of great practical significance. The report mainly includes the following four aspects:the context of project, the description of task, case studies and conclusion. The context of project briefly introduces the author's background information, the main content, the reasons why the translator decides to select this text. The description of task mainly focuses on preparation before translation, translation schedule and post-translation conclusion.Case studies are concluded from the perspective of Skopos theory, which aims to analyze the problems in the process of translation from word, syntax and discourse.Through translation practice, the translator hopes to get the experiences and improve her ability of translation.
