Compared with conference interpreting,escort interpreting is less demanding,hence it is something suitable for the novice interpreter.The content of this report is about the negotiation of employment contract of Famed Engineering and Technology Company.The author was recruited to interpret for the human resource manager of the company and the foreign teacher with whom the HR manger intended to sign the contract.The language they use is both formal when they talk about the contract and informal when they try to explain the contract or affairs that are related to the contract.The report intends to study how interpretive theory of translation can guide the escort interpreting.The author tested the approach and summarized some methods of interpreting,such as reshuffling the order of the discourse of the source language,following a logical sequence,omitting or taking advantage of the interpreter's supplementary knowledge of the subject the speaker is talking about.At the same time,after the analysis of different cases in which comprehension,de-verbalization,and reformulation were applied,the author discovered that interpretation of discourse does improve the quality of communication.The practice can not only facilitate the communication for the speakers but can serve as a reference for the novice interpreter.The report consists of five chapters.Chapter one elaborates the background of the practice,the purpose and significance of the project,the requirements and the source of the project and the layout of the report.Chapter two elucidates the project preparation,the process and the revision and conclusion of the practice;Chapter three analyzes the of guidance the interpretive approach in practice with specific cases;Chapter four is the evaluation of the project by the author and her client;Chapter five is the summary of the strength and weaknesses of the report.
