A Report On E-C Escort Interpreting Of Two-day Tour In Cangzgou

With the development of Chinese economy,especially the national attention to the soft power of Chinese culture,China’s rich human landscape and beautiful natural scenery have attracted more and more foreign friends.Due to the vigorous development of tourism industry,the demand for escort interpreting is also increasing with each passing day,and interpreters play an important role in the process of cultural exchanges between China and foreign countries.This report explores how to apply the interpretive theory into the escort interpreting.The interpretive theory holds that the object of interpretation is meaning rather than language.This reminds interpreters that they must focus on the understanding and expression of meaning,rather than on the equivalence of language forms.In this report,based on his personal experience,the author analyzes and reflects on the translation problems encountered in Cangzhou’s two-day tour by using the interpretive theory,and sums up the corresponding translation strategies and skills.The literal translation and free translation strategies will be applied in the translation of vegetable’s names and place’s names;the literal translation and free translation strategies and the amplification skill are applied in the translation of the historical events time and the historical characters;the transliteration,amplification and annotation are applied in the translation of people’s names and proper nouns.The author hopes that the translation skills summarized and reflected in this interpretation practice can be applied to the interpretation practice in the future,and at the same time,the author also hopes to provide some reference for the translators of escort interpreting,which can promote the development of Chinese culture and carry forward essence of Chinese culture as well.
