Chinese Human Nature,Chinese Fans and Chinese Moon Festival, selected from The East of Asia Magazine, are the studies of Chinese human characteristics and introductions to Chinese culture. Therefore, these three articles and their E-C translation exert a positive effect on acquiring knowledge of Chinese culture in the19th century and cultural exchanges between China and the West.Based on the analysis of the characteristics of language and structure in the source text, the thesis classifies the difficulties of translation and summaries the translation methods and skills applied in the process of translation. In the aspect of word and phrase translation, considering the synchronic and diachronic characteristics of languages, literal translation, liberal translation, transliteration and parts of speech transformation can be applied to translate the source text into the target text.As for sentence translation, passive voice sentences, positive sentences, negative sentences, complicated sentences and compound sentences are the major difficulties of translation.Conversion between active voice and passive voice, positive translation and negative translation can be adopted in sentences translation. In addition, reorganization is the main method of translating complicated sentences and compound sentences. In the process of discourse translation, cohesion, coherence and logical relations among paragraphs should be taken into consideration to make the target text more readable. The thesis holds translation as the reproduction of language and culture. The target text can be more acceptable by flexibly applying multi-translation methods and skills.
