A Report On The Study Of E-C Translation Of "Chinese Dreamlore" From East Of Asia Magazine

With the increasing communication between China and international community during late Qing and early Republic,many English journals emerged.The East of Asian Magazine,one of the English Journals,has been created by missionary from Western countries based on the background of the late Qing and early Republic.Based on the practice of two English texts from The East of Asian magazine,the thesis will be divided into several parts: Firstly,the thesis introduces the background of translation program,analyzes the current research status of this field.Then,it analyzes the text characteristics from structure,words,sentences and chapters,then,it discusses the process of translation program,including pre-translation and translation analysis.The thesis analyzes the translation of proper noun,difficult sentence and chapters respectively.Finally,the thesis concludes that proper application for translation techniques shall improve the translation efficiency,and translator shall apply translation techniques like: word formation,negation,amplification,omission when translating those similar texts.The thesis aims to provide references for translation of historical and cultural texts by summarizing the characteristics of The Chinese Dreamlore text in late Qing and early Republic.
