This study takes the examples of health reports from tech news of major foreign news media such as BBC and VOA,and from famous foreign magazines such as New Scientist,Time,Newsweek. The articles are close to life, very practical and popular among readers. Some of the articles are professional,so the translator need to refer to a large number of relevant literature,in order to understand the articles accurately. Many attributive clauses are employed in the articles. These attributive clauses have complex sentence structures, therefore are flexible in logical relationship. Also,English and Chinese have many differences. Therefore,it is a great challenge for the translator to accurately understand the attributive clause, and adopt the appropriate translation methods in order to present good translations in line with the usage in Chinese. This study adopts instance analysis method, and is guided by the theory of functional equivalence, seeks to identify translation methods of attributive clause from the view of logic center and differences of hypotaxis and parataxis in English and Chinese languages.English attributive clauses are located after the words or phrases they modify or qualify, while in Chinese, attributes are put before the modified words or phrases, and they should not be too long.So when translating the attributive clause,we need to analyze the sentence trunk, clarify the logical relationship between sentences, and give full consideration to the difference of logic center and differences of hypotaxis and parataxis in English and Chinese language,so as to achieve the similar reading experience between the target language readers and the source language readers according to Nida's functional equivalence. This study concludes that we can take many flexible methods to translate the attributive clause according to its characteristics. When the attributive clause is short and simple in structure,we can put it before the modified words or phrases. If the attributive clause is used to describe, narrate or explain the antecedent, but not tomodify it,we should put it after the main clause to be an independent sentence,so as to avoid unclear logic. If the form is the attributive clause, but it means time, cause, result, and so on,we should translate it into adverbial clause. If the focus of the whole sentence is attributive clause,we should combine it with the main clause and translate it into one sentence. The practice proves that these four methods are very useful and of significance when we translate the attributive clause.
