With the deepening of economic globalization,it is deemed wise to promote the process of internationalization.Qingdao, which aims at improving its influence throughout the world as well as attracting more resources, the echo of spirit of government and preferential policies has become vital important.Saving time, compared with translation, and having a relatively higher accuracy rate than that of interpreting, sight translation is more feasible to be adopted in putting these Chinese written materials into other languages. This report is based on the sight translation of the Development Plan of Qingdao West Coast New Economic Zone.According to Piaget's genetic epistemology, the interpreter analyzes reasons for Chinglish errors, including the confusion of word meanings, the confusion of part of speech as well as repetition and redundancy in lexical level,as well as loose sentence structures and lacking passive sentences in syntactic level. In addition, with the analysis of China English and Chinglish in definition, the interpreter classifies improper interpreting of words with Chinese characteristics and idiomatic expression(such as abbreviations)into Chinglish errors. Then, strategies in corresponding aspects are given: In lexical level, getting rid of unnecessary nouns, converting the repeating words, and fixing objects to identify the primary and secondary relations in sentences with multiple verbs;on syntactic level, using principle and subordinate structures, such as attributive clauses, participial phrases and prepositional phrases,as well as using definite objects to fix subjects. As to typical Chinese words and idiomatic expressions, effective ways to avoid Chinglish errors include adding necessary explanation or paraphrasing,as well as keep learning to enrich background knowledge and vocabulary. Also, the modification of the target text is completed combining participants' feedback. This report is divided into four chapters. The first chapter is the task description, including the source and significance of the topic, task objective and the analysis of the participants. The second chapter describes the sight translation process, from preparation, sight translation process to the quality evaluation. The third chapter is the case study, including the introduction of Chinglish, reasons for Chinglish errors with examples from the target text,as well as strategies to solve these errors. The fourth chapter is the conclusion part;also the interpreter points out the direction and brief content for further research in the same field.
